# Universal MCP Connection Walkthrough

{% hint style="info" %}
Note: Each integration is slightly different & instructions for integrating with each specific application can be found on our website. However this walkthrough aims to give you clear insight into the auth process when it comes to creating a BlueNexus account during onboarding. \
\
For this example, we will be using ChatGPT as the example interface. The onboarding logic however should apply to any application, be that Claude, n8n, OpenClaw, e.t.c
{% endhint %}

#### Step 1 - Click on your desired AI interface

On the BlueNexus website, click on your preferred integration client (GPT, n8n, Claude, OpenClaw).

<figure><img src="https://1277515522-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FGDQHCxzoFGYOLJz6a3WA%2Fuploads%2F20N4UHu5HXxGcWPqokqS%2FScreenshot%202026-03-11%20at%2011.06.40%E2%80%AFAM.png?alt=media&#x26;token=18188c84-adad-411d-bcb9-c9c472dc4cf2" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

***

#### Step 2 - Claim the universal MCP URL

Once you have selected your desired integration client, claim the uMCP URL by clicking the "copy" button within the instructions.&#x20;

<figure><img src="https://1277515522-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FGDQHCxzoFGYOLJz6a3WA%2Fuploads%2FA5wmKQfA3ZS67BLBzlP1%2FScreenshot%202026-03-11%20at%2011.10.03%E2%80%AFAM.png?alt=media&#x26;token=3758b392-3d1c-46bd-8c18-875714876d91" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

***

#### Step 3 - Go to the client application & imbed the URL

In the case of ChatGPT, installing custom connectors like our uMCP requires developer mode to be active.&#x20;

{% hint style="info" %}
**Go to your profile > Settings > Apps > Advanced Settings > Developer mode.**
{% endhint %}

<figure><img src="https://1277515522-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FGDQHCxzoFGYOLJz6a3WA%2Fuploads%2Fxt2ZKb6SqouuGCCwkLlS%2FScreenshot%202026-03-11%20at%2011.19.21%E2%80%AFAM.png?alt=media&#x26;token=c7f94409-362a-48a9-bd96-b6eb6b4809a8" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

{% hint style="warning" %}
**Note:** Other AI clients may have different onboarding pathways. For example Claude do not require a developer mode to be active. Please see specific instructions for integrating with your AI client of choice, on our website.&#x20;
{% endhint %}

***

#### Step 4 - Create your MCP connector

Once developer mode is turned on (ChatGPT only), go back to Settings > Apps > Create app

{% hint style="info" %}
Turning on developer mode in ChatGPT is what allows you to create custom apps & connections.&#x20;
{% endhint %}

<figure><img src="https://1277515522-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FGDQHCxzoFGYOLJz6a3WA%2Fuploads%2F75SONVizbwVRoFjcfwwZ%2FScreenshot%202026-03-11%20at%2011.25.50%E2%80%AFAM.png?alt=media&#x26;token=bde4ca0d-b5ef-4f12-ba83-7f9856e20910" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

{% hint style="warning" %}
**BlueNexus Onboarding:** \
Once you click create, this will begin the authentification process with BlueNexus. Here you create an account. This account is your dashboard for aggregating all of your connnections like Notion, Slack, Google Workspace, Apple health, Social media e.t.c. This dashboard will be where you determine which clients (various AI applications), can see which data connections. \
\
E.g You might want GPT to only have access to Google and Facebook, yet you might want Claude to have access to every connection you have hooked up to your uMCP. This is where you control the destiny of your data via secure access.&#x20;
{% endhint %}

***

#### Step 6 - Create your BlueNexus account&#x20;

After clicking create, you will be directed to the [BlueNexus Application](https://docs.bluenexus.ai/introduction/readme). From here you need to create an account by signing in via your preferred method & click authorise.&#x20;

<figure><img src="https://1277515522-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FGDQHCxzoFGYOLJz6a3WA%2Fuploads%2F0CrzTXpWMCLxXGR89YLy%2FScreenshot%202026-03-11%20at%2011.46.33%E2%80%AFAM.png?alt=media&#x26;token=469acbb3-43ed-4821-bc10-fc2ab0ae9701" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

<figure><img src="https://1277515522-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FGDQHCxzoFGYOLJz6a3WA%2Fuploads%2F9jtSAk77bGrAdtXv2YKf%2FScreenshot%202026-03-11%20at%2011.51.19%E2%80%AFAM.png?alt=media&#x26;token=1b608195-bcd9-4e97-81b8-36885bcd0067" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

***

#### Step 7 - Review connector&#x20;

After authorising, you will be redirected back to the client application (in this case GPT). Here, you can see the connection is now active. <br>

<figure><img src="https://1277515522-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FGDQHCxzoFGYOLJz6a3WA%2Fuploads%2FKiZUmmhCImavnSquvN5G%2FScreenshot%202026-03-11%20at%2011.53.34%E2%80%AFAM.png?alt=media&#x26;token=7cf56685-bb20-4aef-90ab-d01536cd5d1f" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

#### Step 7 - Go back to your BlueNexus account & configure connections &#x20;

Go back to <https://app.bluenexus.ai/> and click "connections". Here you can chose which data you want to pull from these application connections and overlay with AI computation.&#x20;

{% hint style="info" %}
The more connectors you allow, the more data and context your AI will have about you, your priorities, your workflows & your life. This helps AI, help you!
{% endhint %}

<figure><img src="https://1277515522-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FGDQHCxzoFGYOLJz6a3WA%2Fuploads%2FPU61AJHRZnFRB3gasO9e%2FScreenshot%202026-03-11%20at%2011.56.53%E2%80%AFAM.png?alt=media&#x26;token=ea4227ce-dea8-4f48-858f-7c0d865530e2" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

{% hint style="warning" %}
Note: These connections can be revoked at any time.
{% endhint %}

***

#### Step 8 - Once connected, go back to GPT & select BlueNexus as a tool &#x20;

Start prompting the AI with any requests, workflows or tasks that you want it to compute over your data. First you need to make sure; \
\
1\. Developer mode is enabled (if using GPT). This will be confirmed with an orange hue circling the chat bar. \
\
2\. Click the (+) icon (to add tools) \
\
3\. Select BlueNexus as a tool to use for that chat inference.&#x20;

<figure><img src="https://1277515522-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FGDQHCxzoFGYOLJz6a3WA%2Fuploads%2FSiPdaSTybYFQItPZvh2Z%2FScreenshot%202026-03-11%20at%2012.23.37%E2%80%AFPM.png?alt=media&#x26;token=076d24ca-6689-41b5-82d7-68088ebff218" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

***

#### Step 9 - Testing

You can start small, but the real power of BlueNexus is its ability to logic and reason over multiple data sources without breaking the context window. \
\
**An example prompt we used was:** \
\&#xNAN;*"Pull a meeting summary from yesterdays “Compliance" meeting, then paste that summary in the Notion page “Meetings” found within the "operations" team space. Once done, send the summary as a memo to Chris in Slack DM's. Title this direct message as "Here is a summary of yesterdays team stand up. This message was sent by BlueNexus uMCP"*\
\
Doing this task manually might take 5-10 minutes in a normal setting. With BlueNexus its all automated so you can do other tasks while it performs the workflow for you.&#x20;

{% hint style="success" %}
**Note:** Some tools may require you to approve the AI client access. This is a security guardrail, ensuring you are in control of your own data at ALL TIMES.
{% endhint %}

<figure><img src="https://1277515522-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FGDQHCxzoFGYOLJz6a3WA%2Fuploads%2FCMznghPQC4tUJn83i8ww%2FScreenshot%202026-03-11%20at%2012.31.19%E2%80%AFPM.png?alt=media&#x26;token=0b8b45db-ff2d-4a69-af3a-cddf6d72af63" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

{% hint style="info" %}
**In this example 3 separate connectors are being used at once to carry out a workflow:** \
&#x20;\
1\. **Fireflies** (AI note taker) to capture context from yesterdays meeting \
\
2\. **Notion** to create a summary of the meeting as a memo (possibly for later reference) \
\
3\. Sending that summary via **Slack** to a colleague who may have missed that meeting\
\
This process done manually might take 5-10. With BlueNexus its all automated so you can do other tasks while it performs the workflow for you.
{% endhint %}

#### Troubleshooting&#x20;

**If the uMCP isn't working:**&#x20;

If the uMCP connector isn't working, double check that the connector is connected by going to Apps > Connectors > BlueNexus uMCP (Check if connected or disconnected)&#x20;

<div align="left" data-full-width="true"><figure><img src="https://1277515522-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FGDQHCxzoFGYOLJz6a3WA%2Fuploads%2FDwLxGy6yDDv7XSmOYgua%2FScreenshot%202026-03-11%20at%2012.16.04%E2%80%AFPM.png?alt=media&#x26;token=0d57e246-0c92-4adb-8ad2-d2277c43bf22" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

<figure><img src="https://1277515522-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FGDQHCxzoFGYOLJz6a3WA%2Fuploads%2FjTdByDaHPetfKct8DzyH%2FScreenshot%202026-03-11%20at%2012.13.52%E2%80%AFPM.png?alt=media&#x26;token=94f00aec-1cd0-4b03-a82b-247f039c9090" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

**If you get tool call fails:** \
If your AI client is throwing "Tool call fails / errors", double check the connectors its trying to use are connected within your BlueNexus profile. Profile > Connections > )check connection is connected).

<figure><img src="https://1277515522-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FGDQHCxzoFGYOLJz6a3WA%2Fuploads%2F1cnqta4AA7sBXTOGjwtF%2Fimage.png?alt=media&#x26;token=035b1ddf-da4a-411f-978f-b1bd262257f1" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>
